The Beauty and Aesthetics Society was officially registered as a non-profit organization with the Government of Nagaland in the year 1991 making it one of the 1st organisations in Nagaland.

With the head office at Kohima, the BASN jurisdiction is recognized as extending to all the district units of Nagaland and to where ever the activities of the society extend.

The BASN has been organizing the annual Miss Nagaland pageant, providing a platform, opening avenues for the contestants, models and performers.

Started by a college girl in the person of Asenla Longkumer (1st president) as a summer occupation the society has taken to full bloom.

The society has achieved a few milestones with its winners bringing laurels to the State.

Also keeping in mind the ideal “Beauty with A purpose” the society has worked with Orphanage and Handicapped Institutions of Nagaland, Mount Gilead Drug Rehabilitation Centre, Zubza, Leprosy Patients of Nagaland, AIDS Patients, Poor Patients Funds, TB Hospital, Khuzama, Naga Hospital, Kohima, Old Age Home, Kohima, Mental Patients of Nagaland and YWAM.

Some of the activities where BASN were involved within and outside Nagaland also include “Naga Nite”, a celebration of 35 Years of Nagaland Statehood in Kolkata, organised various cultural and fashion shows for state events.

Participated for events in Mizoram and Meghalaya. For the first time, Naga models walked along side international and national models in a fashion show at Kolkata. Organized Miss North East 1996 and 2004 at Kohima.

New members inducted during the 2013 event were: Mevuhole Kikhi, Vilabeiu Janry, Rita Krocha, Esther Natso, Lanutoshi Lemtur, Lipokzulu, Nangshimenla Therie, Tokatoli Sohe, Sentienla Pongen, Chumlano Kikon, Nyeie Leinak Phom, Rongsenyangla, Ethiel Konyak.

The 2013 event was blessed by Lipokzulu, Member BASN and the President of Kohima Baptist Youth Fellowship.
