Kama Suvarna

Ancient kingdom in Bengal, which lay west of the Bhaglrathi river, and comprised the modern Districts of Burdwan, Bankura, Western Murshidabad, and Hooghly. The best-known king was Sasanka or Narendra, the last of the Guptas, who was a fanatical worshipper of Siva. He invaded Magadha, and cut down the sacred bodhi tree, early in the seventh century. The capital of this kingdom was probably at Rangamati in Murshidabad District.
