Porakad
Porakad, 1908
(Pored) Town in the Ambalapulai taluk of Travancore State, Madras, situated in 9 22' N. and 76 22' E. Population (1901), 2,264. Formerly the head-quarters of the Chempakasseri Rajas, it passed to Travancore in 1748. It was once a notable port, but declined with the rise of Alleppey. The Portuguese, and after them the Dutch, had settlements here.
