''<br /> <br /> =Arni Tahsil, 1908=<br /> <br /> Zamindari tahsil in the south of North Areot <br /> District, Madras, lying between 12 29' and 12 49' N. and 79 7' and <br /> 79 22' E., and comprising the Arni jagir. The area is 184 square miles, <br /> or less than any other tahsil in the District. Number of villages, 139 ; <br /> population in 1901, 96,542, compared with 91,730 in 1891 ; head- <br /> quarters, Arni (population, 12,4.85) ; fleshkash payable to Government <br /> (including cesses), Rs. 21,000.
