=Baghat, Medak =

Taluk in Medak District, Hyderabad State, with an area
of 451 square miles. The population in 1901, including jagirs, was
57,073, compared with 52,819 in 1891. There are no villages, of
which 52 are j'dgzr, and Mushlrabad (population, 815) is the head-
quarters. The land revenue in 1901 was Rs. 75,000. These statistics
include the' talukof Ibrahlmpatan, transferred from Mahbubnagar
District in 1905, which had an area of 393 square miles in 1901, with
a population of 46,604. The paigdh taluk of Shamsabad lies to the
west, with two villages, a population of 5,446, and an area of about
9 square miles. The name Baghat (' gardens ') was given to the
original taluk, because most of the ' crown ' gardens were included
in it. The taluk is watered by the river Musi and the Husain Sagar
(lake).
