-A month after recording its second-warmest February in 120 years, the capital endured its warmest March since 2010. The mean maximum temperature was at 33.1°C — 3.5°C above normal; the figure was at 34.1°C 11 years ago, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

-Despite as many as five western disturbances and a bit of rain, its latter half saw the mercury rise sharply, crossing 41°C in many parts of the city on 29 Mar — the warmest March day since 1945.

 Andhra Pradesh and Telangana faced the maximum casualties with both these states together recording 93% of the total deaths due to heat wave in 2015. Mean temperature in India has increased by nearly 0.6 degree Celsius over the last 110 years in line with rising temperature across the globe, said the government in Parliament while informing the Lok Sabha that the heat wave phenomena in 2015 were "abnormally" high which had led to 2,037 deaths across the country.

		+	2015 is not only in line to be the hottest on record globally but also in India. The country has lived through its hottest September, October and November in 2015, reveals India Meteorological Department's (IMD) data going back to 1901.
		+	The countrywide mean temperature in November this year was 1.25°C above normal, the highest-ever for the month since record keeping began. The mean minimum and maximum temperatures in the country in October 2015 were also above normal in varying degrees, which too were the highest rise for the month.

		+	Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology , Pune, scientist Roxy Mathew Koll said long climate trends show that global temperatures have been rising continuously since 1997. “The year 1997 had a full blown El Nino event like 2015. A strong El Nino sources out a lot of heat from the ocean, which leads to a rise in temperatures. Almost 90% of the extra heat from greenhouse gases has been passed off to the oceans over the years, with less than 10% passed on to the atmosphere, land and ice combined,“ he said. “One interesting bit about El Nino this year is that its lifecycle is longer than the one experienced in 1997,“ he added.

 While the rain gods have been kind to Delhi, in neighbouring Haryana it’s been a different story. The meteorological district comprising Haryana, Delhi and Chandigarh is the only one in north India where rains have been deficient so far. That’s mainly because of poor rainfall in Haryana.
