''<br /> <br /> =Kotrang=<br /> Town in the Serampore subdivision of Hooghly District, <br /> Bengal, situated in 22° 41' N. and 88° 21 E., on the right bank of the <br /> Hooghly river. Population (1901), 5,944. Bricks, siirki, and tiles are <br /> made in large cjuantities, and rope and string are also manufactured. <br /> Kotrang was constituted a municipality in 1869. The income and <br /> expenditure during the decade ending 1901-2 averaged Rs. 4,100 <br /> and Rs. 3,800 respectively. In 1903-4 the income was Rs. 5,500, <br /> half of which was derived from a tax on persons ; and the expenditure <br /> was Rs. 4,650.</div>
