Ashkals: first private gallery specializing in miniatures

ASHKALS ….. The first private, art gallery of Pakistan specializing in miniatures and ‘orientalist’ paintings held yet another exhibition of its collection of ‘Realistic Art’ from 16th to 21st May 2006 at its premises in 14th street, Khy-e- Shamsheer, Ph 5, DHA.
An exhibition of recent landscapes by Islamabad based, veteran artist, Ghulam Rasool opened at Canvas Gallery on May 3rd, 2006. The collection which comprised his established styles and subjects as well as new additions continued till May 13th, 2006.
A calligraphy exhibition by artist, Abdul Rasheed opened at Karachi Sheraton hotel last week. Collaborated by the Pakistan-Indonesia friendship society, it will remain open until June 6, 2006 and the proceeds from the sale of paintings will go to the earthquake victims’ rehabilitation projects.
‘The dialogue continues’, an exhibition by Sheherbano Qizilbash opened this week at the Clifton art gallery in Karachi and it will continue till June 15, 2006.
Lahore’s Hamail art galleries, exhibits Samiran Chowdhary’s work in mixed media, water pastels, oil and acrylic. Concentrating on the many moods of Bengali women, his work revolves around the female form in which he plays around with a profusion of colours to create surreal images. The exhibition will remain open till June 10, 2006.
