Devendra Jhajharia had won his first Gold medal in Athens in 2004

The javelin thrower had lost his left arm below the elbow after being electrocuted as an eight-year old.

He had won the second gold medal of his career in the Paralympics, creating history for India. The native of Rajgarh in Churu district of Rajasthan improved on his own world record of 62.15m -set in Athens in 2004 when he won his first gold -in men's F46 category with a throw of 63.97m."I was confident of winning the gold medal," Jhajharia told TOI later. "The world record is a bonus." Manju was expecting the record. "He had been working very hard for the past four months," she said. "I am not surprised that he bettered the world record."
