Campaign against Eid diktat

Times of India

Anational campaign will be launched against the fatwa issued recently by the Dar-ul-Uloom, Deoband, which prohibits Muslims from celebrating Eid Miladun Nabi or the Propet’s birthday (peace be upon him). Maulana Mansoor Ali of All India Sunni Jamiatul Ulema and Mohammed Saeed Noorie of Raza Academy told a press conference her on Friday that this fatwa has been rejected outright by Muslims.

They alleged Dar-ul-Uloom, Wahhabis and Ahle Hadees have been asking Muslims not to celebrate his birthday. ‘‘These sects are free to stay away from the celebrations of the birthday. But they cannot impose their views on the rest of the community,’’ Noorie stated. TNN
