Equals Olympic 50m prone gold medallist’s score

Shweta Singh, Gujarat shooter equals Rio winner's score, Dec 22 2016: The Times of India

He is only 16 but Gujarat's Pruthviraj Ayachi left behind the likes of Gagan Narang and country's other top shooters when he won gold medal in the junior men's 50m Rifle Prone event in the National Shooting Championship in Pune.

When Ayachi shot 209.5 in the final, the score was way better than 207.5 by Sushil Ghaley , the winner of senior men's 50m prone the same day . In fact, Ayachi's score is India's best-ever as he broke Rakesh Manpat's national record of 207.9 set in 2013 nationals. This is not all.He also equalled the score of Rio Games' 50m prone gold medallist H Junghaenel of Germany .

Meanwhile, Heena Sidhu won the final of the women's 10m air pistol with a comfortable margin and a meet record for the finals. The young shooters, however, gave her a big fright in the qualification.
