Zhu Zhu is a Chinese actress, model and TV-show hostess, who in 2016 shot in Ladakh and other parts of India for Kabir Khan’s Tubelight, in which she plays the heroine opposite Salman Khan, film actor

She comes from an Air Force family and speaks English as well as Mandarin Chinese.
Her grandfather, Zhu Xuzhi, a former People's Liberation Army general, may have even been personally involved in 1962, serving as he was then as the political commissar of the PLA Air Force's technical department. (India Today)

Making her Hindi film debut with Salman Khan-starrer ‘Tubelight’, Chinese actor-singer Zhu Zhu is all set to wow Indian viewers. Zhu Zhu, the pianist
At the age of three, Zhu Zhu started to learn the piano. She grew up to be so good that she performed the tale of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ on stage when she was in junior school.
A national singing sensation before an actor
In 2005, Zhu Zhu joined a popular music channel in China and hosted music programs on the channel’s domestic network. She was discovered by talent scouts after winning a local singing contest in Beijing and then won the third place at the national level. Zhu Zhu was signed on by a music label in 2007 and her first album was released in 2009.
Zhu Zhu is a qualified engineer
Along with her being a natural in the musical arena and being an actor, Zhu Zhu is a qualified engineer. She graduated from Beijing Technology and Business University, where she majored in electronics and information engineering.
The ticket to the big league 0 After appearing in major Hollywood films like ‘Cloud Atlas’ and ‘The Man with the Iron Fists’ in smaller roles, Zhu Zhu landed a major part in the American TV series ‘Marco Polo’.
Career
TV debut: As a host for MTV China on an English-learning series.

Debut in the films: Zhu Zhu had a guest role in 我知女人心, the Chinese remake of What Women Want (2010).
Zhu Zhu entered international cinema with纽约客@上海/ Shanghai Calling (2011) and then a walk-on part in 铁拳 (The Man with the Iron Fists) (2012), (director: RZA, producers for Universal: Eli Roth, Marc Abraham).
Her US debut was with Cloud Atlas (directed by Lana Wachowski, her brother Andy Wachowski and Tom Tykwer) (2012), in which her acting skills were appreciated.

However, in a pictorial feature titled ‘Kiss turns unpopular China TV host into overnight celebrity,’ Asian Town wrote that till May 2012 Zhu Zhu was ‘relatively unknown in China, until her relationship with 34-year-old Elkann [manager of brand promotion at Fiat] was exposed. They reportedly met at an exhibition in Beijing [in May 2012].

‘Pictures of Lapo Elkann kissing [Zhu Zhu] during a Serie A championship match sparked a flurry of searches on the Internet for her identity. Elkann is one of the heirs to the Agnelli family empire which owns automobile giant Fiat and Italian football club Juventus. As the photos went viral, curious Chinese netizens launched a search for the mystery woman's background.’
The relationship ended in 2013.
The littlest black dress
One of Zhu Zhu’s earliest brushes with fame was because of her little black dress (see accompanying pictures). Hug China.com wrote, ‘Zhu captured the media's attention, appearing in a sexy black top which left almost nothing to the imagination. Zhu showed the world an oriental beauty’s charm but western-style open personality, wearing a side cut dress in black color.’
Apparently, this was a Gucci outfit that Zhu Zhu wore at the premiere of Once Upon a Time at the Cannes International Film Festival on May 18, 2012.

Salman Khan and his "Tubelight" team reportedly had different plans to introduce Zhu Zhu as the film's leading lady.
Salman Khan and the makers of "Tubelight" are reportedly upset with Chinese actress Zhu Zhu for apparently announcing her association with the film too early.
Zhu Zhu had recently shared a photo on Instagram revealing that she will play one of the female leads in the movie "Tubelight." Although the picture was immediately removed, it was already viral on social media.
It has been reported that the makers of "Tubelight" had a different plan of introducing the film's actress but Zhu Zhu's "over-enthusisam" irked Salman and his team a bit.
"They wanted to introduce her properly after the current shooting in Ladakh which goes on for another fortnight. Zhu Zhu was immediately asked to remove her picture with Salman in Ladakh which she had so happily and innocently posted. In her defence, she didn't mean to jump protocol because she didn't know what the protocol was," SKJ Bollywood News quoted a source as saying.
The source also told the publication that the Kabir Khan directorial will have two leading ladies; one of which is Zhu Zhu and the other will be an Indian actress. "They haven't signed the Indian actress opposite Salman yet because shooting with her will happen in the next schedule. Right now the entire focus is on completing the Ladakh schedule," the source added.
The names of certain actresses like Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone had been doing the rounds, suggesting that any of the two will be seen opposite Salman in "Tubelight."
Chinese govt. asked Zhu Zhu to boycott promotions

Salman Khan's co-actor Zhu Zhu has been missing from the film's promotion.
While the makers were planning to fly down Zhu Zhu from China before the release of the film, but with a day left for the film to hit the screens, that definitely [did not] happen.
During a recent interaction with media, when Kabir Khan was asked about Zhu Zhu's absence from the promotions, the filmmaker said, "She's busy there in China, isi liye woh aa nahi paayi hai."
However, if a report in BollywoodLife is to be believed, this is not the real reason behind her absence. A source was quoted as telling the website, "The Chinese government isn't too pleased with Tubelight and have apprehensions about how Kabir Khan and team have projected their country in this film. Considering that the film deals with Indo-Chinese war they are not sure if the Chinese have been projected in the right light. And that's why Zhu Zhu has been asked to stay away from the film's promotions."
