Nutan Behl (better known as Nutan) was a legendary actress who gave several blockbusters in a career of over four decades. She is regarded as one of the finest female actors in the history of Hindi cinema who has givens some unmemorable performances. Nutan, daughter of the famous actress Shobhana Samarth, sued her mother over control of her own earnings, in a case that became a bitter family feud fought out in public. These cases were sensational, even by today's standards. The early 'item' dances and close-up kisses showed cinema's inherent voyeurism, which peaked in Hindi films of the 1980s and 1990s.
