Noted economist and retired Special Chief Secretary of the undivided State of Andhra Pradesh, V K Srinivasan, who was also the Director of city-based Indian Institute of Economics.
A 1963-batch IAS officer, he was known for his outspokenness, and had played in league division in Cricket in Chennai, the then Madras State.
Srinivasan had also talked about how the State of Andhra Pradesh was led down by politicians who favoured private sector over the public sector many years ago. He also served as Collector of Karimnagar and Anantapur districts.
He also served in Ministry of Finance and was also "very close" to the former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao, sources said.
Former RBI Governor Y V Reddy who knew Srinivasan from college days, described him as a remarkable person: "He was extremely dynamic but not high profile. We were colleagues in the Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
