Vietnam’s Kha Nhi Nguyen (4:25.5s) followed Bhavya closely till the last lap and overtook Bhavya to claim silver and the Indian had to settle for bronze in 4:26.89, the first medal for India in the women's category.

Ahmedabad : Benedicton Rohit continued his fine form this season by claiming the silver in the 50m butterfly at the Asian Aquatics Championships in Ahmedabad. The 21-year-old Tamil Nadu swimmer, the first Indian to break the 24-second barrier at the World University Games in July, challenged Kazakhstan’s Adilbek Mussin for gold. Rohit finished in 23.89 seconds, just behind Mussin (23.74s), while Mussin’s compatriot Maxim Skazobtov took bronze in 23.9s.
