In the Delhi Art Fair, 2015, there was a humungous spool of red thread that seemed to rage against rupture. It was Shivani Aggarwal's work that turned many heads, including designer Rohit Bal's. The 38-year-old Delhiite, who has been showing at the art fair for two years, uses threads, needles, scissors and other elements of sewing and knitting in her visual language. "I have been working on this series of large objects that explore my theme of rupture and repair," she says.
