Srinagar : The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden here has struck roots in the World Book of Records (UK) as Asia’s largest such park, adorned with a breathtaking array of 1.5 million flowers. The collections represent a stunning ensemble of 68 distinctive tulip varieties in the garden, nestled in the scenic foothills of the Zabarwan range.

At the garden on Saturday, Jammu & Kashmir’s administration’s secretary (floriculture, gardens and parks) Fayaz Sheikh was honoured with the certification by World Book president and CEO Santosh Shukla. World Book editor Dilip N Pandit, the J&K director of floriculture, other officers and the garden staff were also present on the occasion.

The garden was conceived by former J&K chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in 2006 and was laid out with hundreds of labourers and gardeners, who toiled and completed the park in less than two years.
In his speech, secretary Sheikh expressed profound gratitude to the World Book team for acknowledging the magnificence of the garden.
