Bapatla Town

Head-quarters of the taluk of the same name in Guntur District, Madras, situated in 15 55' N. and 8o c 28' E., on an elevated sand ridge about 5 miles from the sea. Population (1901), 8,595. It is a station on the East Coast Railway, and contains the offices of a District Munsif and taksilddr, and a good travellers' bungalow. The place is administered as a Union.
