Sarwaria Brahmans

A few Sarwaria, or, as they prefer calling themselves, Rama-Chandra Brahmans, are employed in Dacca as constables, doorkeepers, and servants in the houses of rich Babus. They are of higher rank than the Maithila, and are very strict in expelling any of their tribe who marry in Bengal, or eat sweetmeats prepared by the confectioner.

As with the Maithila, the "Bhanja," or sister's son, is the Purohit of the family.
