Jeakson etched his name in the history books of Indian football forever when he scored the country’s first ever goal in a FIFA competition, netting the lone goal of the Under-17 team’s spirited 1-2 loss to Colombia. The midfielder’s towering header from a corner-kick found the back of the net in the 82nd minute, and sent fans into raptures. Jeakson’s performances in the U-17 World Cup earned him a spot in the U-19 squad to play the AFC U-19 qualifiers.
