Federally Administered Tribal Areas merged with the state

Pakistan president Mamnoon Hussain signed a legislation approving the merger of Pakistan’s tribal areas with the country’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, in a move that could give at least eight million residents same rights as other citizens of Pakistan.

Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) reforms committee head Sartaj Aziz said the amendment will ensure the “mainstreaming of tribal areas and give its residents rights like other citizens”, adding that Rs 1 trillion would be spent on the development of the area over a period of next ten years.

The areawill now be governed by Pakistan’s law.
