A profile
In the intellectual battle over development models that formed a sub-plot in this year's General Election, he was one of the strongest voices on the BJP side- criticising the UPA's legacy of paying out doles and articulating the merits of the Gujarat development model.
Many of his ideas on how to change the Indian economy are being put into practice by the new Government. He was one of the staunchest critics, for instance, of the recently scrapped Planning Commission. He is a news junkie to the extent that he is able to quote figures from newspaper reports dating back years.
