Ladnun

Head-quarters of the jagir estate of the same name in the Didwana district of the State of Jodhpur, Rajputana, situated in 27° 39' N. and 74° 24' E., about 130 miles north-east of Jodhpur city and within 4 miles of the Bikaner border. Population (1901), 8,064. The place is the home of some of the wealthy Marwari merchants of Calcutta and other large cities, and is locally famous for the manufacture of gold ornaments. The estate of Ladnun consists of seven villages yielding a revenue of about Rs. 20,000, and is held by a Thakur belonging to the Jodha sept of Rathor Rajputs.
