Peddapuram Town

Head-quarters of the taluk of the same name in Godavari District, Madras, situated in 17 5' N. and 82 8' E. Population (1901), 12,609. Peddapuram ' was formerly the- head- quarters of a large zamindari; and the ruins of a fort stand on the hill overlooking the town. The place possesses a large weekly market, and a high school maintained by the American Evangelical Lutheran Mission. Local affairs are managed by a Union panchayat.
