Village in the Molakalmuru taluk of Chitaldroog Dis- trict, Mysore, situated in 14 49' N. and 76 47' E., on the Janagahalla, 9 miles north-east of Molakalmuru town. Population (1901), 1,796. It has become of special interest from the discovery of edicts of Asoka in the neighbourhood. They are addressed to the officials in Isila, which may represent the c Sidda ' of Siddapura. If so, the place was in existence in the third century B.C. The other inscriptions found are Pallava, Hoysala, and Vijayanagar of the eleventh, thirteenth, and sixteenth centuries.
