Takes on World Champ long for Korean title

Ajay Jayaram accounted for Tien Chen Chou of Chinese Taipei with a display of delightful netplay and watertight defence to waltz into his maiden Superseries final in Seoul. The unseeded Indian trounced the world No. 7 in straight games 21-19, 21-15 in the semifinals of the Korea Open, a feat which looked improbable just a few months back. The last time Jayaram made it to the last-four stage of a Superseries was in 2012 ¬ in the China Masters. Thereafter, he lost the race for the London Olympics berth to ParupalliKashyap, suffered injuries and was out of action for most part of the last three years. Jayaram, who started this tournament by stunning World No. 6 Viktor Axelsen in the first round, continued to punch above his weight. He exacted revenge against Tien Chen who had beaten the Indian twice in 2015 and faced the title holder and reigning world champion Chen Long in the final.

Super Chen ends Jayaram's long run

Ajay Jayaram's run was snapped by world champion Cheng Long in the Korea Open Superseriesfinal.The defending champion from China took just 40 minutes to oust the unseeded Indian 21-14, 21-13 in Seoul.

The world No. 32, who made stunning progress in the last four days to reach the final, ran out of gas against the world No.1. He tried to keep pace but the Long was too good.
