Accord ing to reports, an eightyear-old girl was on her way to a grocery shop in her village under Mujariya police station on Friday evening when Vijay Singh, 32, a farmer, lured her on the pretext of giving biscuits. He took her to a place near a graveyard ­ 150 km away from the village ­ on his bike, where he allegedly raped her.

Badaun, which witnessed the hanging of two girls from a tree in 2014, is fast emerging as a hotspot for crimes against women. On Saturday , three cases of rape were reported here. In all three cases, FIR was lodged on Saturday. Accord ing to reports, an eightyear-old girl was on her way to a grocery shop in her village under Mujariya police station on Friday evening when Vijay Singh, 32, a farmer, lured her on the pretext of giving biscuits. He took her to a place near a graveyard ­ 150 km away from the village ­ on his bike, where he allegedly raped her.

In the second incident, which took place in a village under Civil Lines police station on February 19, four persons, including a woman, reportedly kidnapped a 16-year-old girl when she was standing outside her house. The girl's family alleged that she was gang-raped.

The last incident took place in a village under Civil Lines police station of Badaun. A 28-year-old woman has alleged that her brother-in-law Surendra and a villager Devendra came to her house when she was alone. The woman alleged that both men gang-raped her and fled after the crime.“We lodged an FIR on Saturday and are investigating the case,“ said Ajay Kumar Yadav, station officer, Civil Lines police station.
