Technical awards

Writer-director Gulzar and Jaideep Sahni shared the Filmfare Award for "Best Dialogue" for Saathiya and Company respectively. Sahni also won the trophy for "Best Story" for Company.

The Filmfare trophy for "Best Background Score" went to A R Rahman for The Legend of Bhagat Singh, while Mani Ratnam won "Best Screenplay" award for Saathiya.

Devdas fetched Nitin Chandrakant Desai a trophy for "Best Art Direction" and the "Best Cinematography" award for Binod Pradhan. The "Best Editing" trophy went to Chandan Arora for Company.
