Adarsh Gourav gets best actor Bafta nomination

London:

Indian actor Adarsh Gourav has bagged the leading actor Bafta nomination for his performance in the Netflix film “The White Tiger”, the British Academy announced on Tuesday. The movie, an adaptation of Aravind Adiga’s Booker Prize winning novel of the same name, marks the first lead role of Gourav, known for his appearance in “My Name is Khan”. The film is directed by Ramin Bahrani, who got a nomination in the adapted screenplay category.

US recession drama “Nomadland” and coming-of-age story “Rocks” led the Bafta nominations with seven nods each. “The Father”, “Mank”, “Promising Young Woman” and Korean-language “Minari” followed with six nominations each.

Four of the six best director nominees are women, including Chloe Zhao for “Nomadland” and Sarah Gavron for “Rocks”. More than half of the 24 nominees were actors of colour. AGENCIES
