The Karachi Institute of Power Engineering (KINPOE) is located adjacent to the Karachi Nuclear Power Plant (KANUPP), and provides training to qualify operators and engineers to operate and maintain KANUPP. KINPOE offers three academic programs: a Masters in Nuclear Power Engineering; a Postgraduate Training Program; and a Post-Diploma Training Program.

After being granted greater autonomy, the Center for Nuclear Studies expanded into new facilities, and in 1997 changed its name to the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS). PIEAS currently provides bachelors, masters and PhD degrees in nuclear engineering, systems engineering, nuclear medicine, and information technologies.
