Srirangam Known as the gateway to vaikuntam, the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, in Srirangam, is one of the most illustrious Vaishnava temples of the south.Constructed in the Dravidian style of acrchitecture, the idol is a reclining form of Vishnu.The temple is considered one of the eight sywayambu kshetras of Vishnu.The deity is said to have been worshipped by Lord Brahma himself. Many saints like Adi Shankara, Ramanuja, Kambar and Tyagaraja have sang praises of the deity.Srirangam can be accessed through air, road and rail.The nearest airport is Tiruchirapalli Airport and the temple town has a railway Station as well.
