Here's a look at Arjun Rampal's biggest controversies so far.
Arun Gawli According to a report in The Indian Express, Arjun Rampal has been served summons for his alleged meeting with convicted gangster, Arun Gawli in JJ hospital last year. The actor was apparently scheduled to meet the gangster to prepare for a role for his upcoming film. However, when the cops got a whiff of this possible meeting they arrived at the scene and told the actor that he wouldn't be allowed to meet the gangster without procuring the court's permission. After this, Arjun left without further ado. However, the JJ Marg police subsequently issued summons to Rampal, asking him to appear before them. Mumbai Police spokesperson DCP, Dhananjay Kulkarni has been quoted in the report as saying that further course of action would be decided after the actor responded to the summons.
Hrithik-Sussanne split- Hrithik Roshan and his wife Sussanne Roshan split after 13 years of marriage and suddenly, Arjun Rampal saw himself getting entangled in this one too. The actor and his wife Mehr Rampal are close friends of Hrithik and Sussanne and soon after the announcement of their separation, the media charged Arjun with allegedly having an affair with Sussanne. In no time Arjun's name was linked to the Hrithik-Sussanne break-up and Arjun had to release a statement soon after saying "These are the hardest times for them and we must be sensitive to towards this decision, rather than creating speculation and rumours. I read in the news as the same time as you all about my involvement in this marriage. It saddens me deeply that rumours become inevitable during celebrities going through such times. Mehr and I wish them only peace and love through these times and support them as friends should and we wish them and their families well always."
IPL parties- Arjun Rampal was under the scanner once again when the poor performance of Indian players at the Indian Premier League (IPL) was blamed on him and his wife Mehr Rampal who organized IPL after parties. A large section of the media, the BCCI and a few of the former cricketers criticized the IPL parties and blamed the poor performance of the Indian players during the games to be a result of these IPL parties. Arjun and wife Mehr were blamed for the same as these parties were their brainchild. Arjun rubbished these reasons and instead blamed the players' poor performance on their game and said that it has nothing to do with the parties. He added that the players attended these parties willingly and he can't be blamed for their no-show on the field. Not just that, the contract of the parties to be hosted came under the radar where people said there should have been bidding for this as well while Arjun claimed that it was his wife's idea and hence no bidding should be required for that.
Ram Gopal Varma- Ram Gopal Varma doesn't stay too far from being involved in a controversy. But this is by far the weirdest controversy that Arjun Rampal has been associated with. According to reports, Ram Gopal Varma was asked to leave the Rampals' house by Arjun Rampal's wife Mehr. Apparently, Ram Gopal Varma had gone to Arjun Rampal's house to narrate a script. There he started talking about how he hates people who have dogs and kids. At that very moment, Arjun's wife Mehr walked in and apparently got annoyed as they not only have a dog but two daughters as well. The report went on to say that he bad mouthed people who have kids and this apparently did not go down well with Mehr. She told RGV to leave the house immediately to which he agreed! While RGV took to Twitter to deny even meeting Mehr, Arjun said it was nothing but irresponsible journalism.
Ranbir Kapoor- This is the latest piece of news that is close on the heels of turning into a major controversy. If news reports are to be believed, then Arjun is apparently unhappy that Ranbir is getting a bigger role in the film 'Roy'. Ranbir Kapoor was earlier supposed to do a cameo in the film 'Roy' while Arjun was the main lead in the film. The latest reports suggest that Ranbir's role in the film has gotten meatier that has obviously not gone down well with Arjun. The script, that has gone under a lot of changes, has made Ranbir's role stronger than Arjun's.
Shah Rukh Khan- Once considered best buddies in Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan and Arjun Rampal reportedly had a huge fallout eventually. The two had worked together in 'Om Shanti Om' and later on in 'Don' but cracks developed in their relationship soon after 'Ra.One' was released. It is believed that Shah Rukh's home production 'Ra.One' led to their fight as Arjun's role was reduced in the film. The actors were then written about in the newspapers constantly, highlighting their cold war. The two apparently still have not kept aside their differences as Arjun was conspicuous by his presence at SRk's famous Eid bash. While Arjun's wife Mehr Rampal who is a close friend of SRK's wife Gauri did drop by, Arjun's absence from the same made headlines.
