Aurangabad Taluk, 1908

Central taluk of Aurangabad District, Hyder- abad State, with an area, including jagirs, of 786 square miles. The population in 1901 was 121,121, compared with 131,582 in 1891, the decrease being due to the famines of 1897 and 1899-1900. The taluk contains one town, Aurangabad City (population, 36,837), the head- quarters of the Division, District, and taluk ; and 270 villages, of which 66 axejdglr. The land revenue in 1901 was 26 lakhs. The taluk is hilly in the north, and is composed of black cotton soil. The paigah taluk of Ladsangvi, with 7 villages and a population of 2,230, lies to the north-east of this taluk, and has an area of about 19 square miles.
