Badagara
(=' North bank'). — Town in the Kurumbranad taluk of Malabar District, Madras, situated in n° 36' N. and 75 36' E., on the sea-coast at the northern extremity of the Elattilr-Badagara backwater, and on the trunk road and the railway from Calicut to Cannanore. Population (1901), 11,319. The value of the imports by sea in 1903-4 was 9 lakhs ; of the exports, 34 lakhs. The former consist chiefly of rice and salt ; the latter of coco-nuts, copra, pepper, and timber. Badagara is a busy town, and the head-quarters of the taluk and of a sub-magistrate and a District Munsif.
