Bansi

Principal town of an estate of the same name in the State of Udaipur, Rajputana, situated in 24° 20' N. and 74 24' E., about 47 miles south-east of Udaipur city. Population (1901), 1,265. The estate, which is held by one of the first-class nobles of Mewar, who is styled Rawat, consists of 59 villages, containing 5,736 inhabitants, of whom over 41 per cent, are Bhlls. The income is about Rs. 24,000, and a tribute of about Rs. 162 is paid to the Darbar. The Rawats of Bansi belong to the Shaktawat family of the Sesodia Rajputs.
