Lawyers can't vote in more than one bar: HC

In a ruling expected to streamline the bar association elections across various courts in Delhi, the high court upheld the principle of one advocate one vote, barring a lawyer from voting in more than one bar. A bench of Justices S Ravindra Bhat and Siddharth Mridul also enforced a rule allowing an advocate only one chamber in any one court complex in the city.

HC acted on petitions by lawyers demanding the implementation of the principle of one Advocate one vote in one Bar.

Delhi High Court Bar Association itself remained a divided house during the hearing , with President Rajiv Khosla opposing the rule while the Secretary Abhijat supported the petitions.
