Dinesh Kumar Gupta

Gupta, who shot into prominence with a harsh arrest warrant for Gere, is a 1996 batch Rajasthan Judicial Service (RJS) officer. Gupta comes back from a humble background of traders from Malakhera in Alwar district and trained in law from Alwar. A former president of the Rajasthan Judicial Service Officers Association, Gupta has a reputation of being tough on the establishment as well as a judicial activist who has fought for the rights of his fellow judicial officers.

Vikram Singh Muwel

Vikram Singh Muwel gained fame when actor Priyanka Chopra’s case landed at his Indore court from a court in Mhow earlier this year. He scheduled a hearing in the case filed by her former secretary, who alleged that Priyanka had levelled baseless allegations against him in an interview. He even issued summons to Priyanka to appear before him on May 19. However, the actor’s lawyer approached the MP High Court and got a stay.

Rakesh Kumar Gupta

As a first class judicial magistrate in the Indore district court since 1997, the judge had issued summons to artist M F Husain after a case was filed surrounding his controversial paintings of Hindu goddesses. Husain appeared in the court of magistrate Gupta and was later granted bail. The judge is now a chief judicial magistrate in a district court in MP.

Malati Karmakar and Pijush Sarkar

Middle-aged, amiable, new to Alipore court. That is how her colleagues would like to describe Malati Karmakar, judicial magistrate of the Alipore court, who took cognisance of a petition filed against a private TV channel and anchor Mandira Bedi for wearing a sari with Indian flag printed on it at a show. Later, the case was transferred to judicial magistrate Pijush Sarkar. Known as a stickler to law, Sarkar, in his early forties, has been at Alipore for long.
