The The Indian Express reported that a socio-educational group of the Chaudhary community in Gujarat, India, passed a resolution banning its youths from sporting "fashionable beards," and imposing a fine of Rs 51,000 for violation. The community's religious leader stated that in Hinduism, only Sadhu-Sant should keep beards.

The decision has been accepted by most of the community's youths, who have voluntarily removed their beards.
