UP government allotted the court-mandated five-acre alternative plot for building a mosque.

The land allocated for the mosque is adjacent to a 18th century Sufi shrine of Shahgada Baba, who’s believed to be a mureed (disciple) of a Sufi saint, Syed Makhdum Ashraf Jahangir, whose mausoleum is located at Kichaucha in Ambedkarnagar district. The village bathes in the celebration of spring during the Urs of its presiding saint, when pilgrims from various districts throng to the shrine in the last week of April. Most devotees are Hindus, which give credence to the syncretic fabric of Dhannipur.

The village has 1,600 voters in its rolls, of which 700 are Muslims and rest Hindus, mostly Yadavs and Dalits.
