In the year 1980, he got elected to Maharashtra Legislative Assembly being India's youngest politician at the age of 25.

Shrikant Jichkar was born on September 14, 1954 near Katol, Nagpur District into a wealthy farmer family.


He was the man who was officially known as India's most qualified person; because during his lifetime, the man had amassed 20 degrees from writing 42 University examinations!

With his name immortalized in the Limca Book of Records, Jichkar already had 14 portfolios to his credit by the time he turned 25. As per the Limca Book of Records, Jichkar's status as the country's most qualified person remains uncontested.

During his lifetime, Jichkar earned the following degrees:

1. Medical Doctor, MBBS and MD

2. Law, LL.B.

3. International Law, LL.M.

4. Masters in Business Administration, DBM and MBA

5. Bachelors in Journalism

6. M.A. Public Administration

7. M.A. Sociology

Jichkar passed most of his exams with first division and won several gold medals as well.

The man appeared for 42 University examinations during the period of 1973 and 1990. After clearing his IPS exam, he soon resigned only to write his IAS exam which he cleared as well. After four months, he resigned from his post to contest the first general elections.

He got elected to Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 1980, becoming India's youngest politician. He also served as the member of Maharashtra Legislative Council, as a Minister of State, and as a parliamentarian of Rajya Sabha.

He also served as the member of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (1982-85), Maharashtra Legislative Council (1986-92), and also as a Minister of State. He was also elected as a parliamentarian of Rajya Sabha (1992-98). He is subsequently the powerful minister at his time with 14 portfolios.

His affection for academics can be proved by a larger collection of personal books -- more than 52,000 -- that he kept in his library. Jichkar was also a very good photographer and a stage actor.

As per the Limca Book of Records, he was the most qualified person from India.

Jichkar's love for academics is proven further by his large collection of 52,000 books that he maintained in his personal library. The genius passed away at the age of 49 in a car accident.
