Andhraites call the shots in ten assembly segments

Of the 24 assembly constituencies in Greater Hyderabad, at least 10 segments like LB Nagar, Kukatpally, Serilingampally, Uppal, Qutubullapur, Malkajgiri, Patancheru, Rajendranagar, Maheshwaram (part) and Sanathnagar have considerable number of Andhraites from other regions.

In the 10 assembly constituencies, seven segments are [in 2013] being represented by Cogress MLAs -- L B Nagar D Sudheer Reddy (LB Nagar), A Rajender (Malkajgiri), B Raj Reddy (Uppal), M Bikshapathi Yadav (Serilingampally), T Nandishwar Goud (Patancheru), P Sabita Indra Reddy (Maheshwaram) and M Shashidhar Reddy (Sanathnagar) while three constituencies are being represented by various political parties -- Kukatpally (Lok Satta) Jayaprakash Narayan, Rajendrangar (Telugu Desam) T Prakash Goud and Qutubullapur (YSRCP) K Srisailam Goud.

Apart from the 10, Medchal is being represented by Cogress MLA K Laxma Reddy and Ibrahimpatnam by TDP MLA M Kishan Reddy, which are not part of Greater Hyderabad, but close to GHMC areas.

Sources recall that with the huge presence of Andhraites, Cogress MLAs like Sudheer Reddy, Raji Reddy, Sanathnagar and Serilingampally MLAs did not resign from their posts, though there was pressure from students and JAC in December 2009 after the UPA government did a U-turn on Telangana.

Cogress sources said the electorate from other regions would play a deciding role only in four of the 24 constituencies and one is being represented by other political party. "

Interestingly, party strength in assembly would have an impact on Lok Sabha constituencies like Malkajgiri, Secunderabad and Chevella, all being represented by Cogress MPs and similarly in the GHMC elections to be held next year. Most surrounding divisions are being represented by TDP corporators.
