One of the most well-known royal faces from Jaipur, Gayatri Devi’s death in 2009 triggered a legal battle between her grandchildren and stepsons. Gayatri Devi’s will named her grandchildren, Devraj Singh and Lalitya Kumari as her sole inheritors. Her only son, Jagat Singh died in 1997. Her stepsons, who had also laid claims as legal heirs, raised objections. There were multiple properties involved in in the dispute, including Rambagh Palace, Jai Mahal, Gayatri Devi’s residence Lilypool and parts of the City Palace in Jaipur. In 2015, the Supreme Court settled the dispute in favour of her grandchildren.
