Jalarpet
Village in the Tiruppattur taluk of Salem District, Madras, situated in 12degree 35' N. and 78degree 34' E. Population (1901), 2,051. It is of importance owing to its railway station, which is the junction of the south-west line of the Madras Railway with the Banga- lore branch. Of late years it has also been the station at which passengers proceeding towards Madras have been examined to make sure that they are free from plague. Distance from Madras 132 miles, from Bangalore 87 miles.
