Jhenida Village

Head-quarters of the subdivision of the same name in Jessore District, Bengal, situated in 23 degree 33' N. and 89 degree 11' E., on the Nabaganga river, 28 miles north of Jessore town. Population (1901), 798. There is a large bazar, with a trade in sugar, rice, and pepper. Communication was formerly carried on chiefly by means of the river, but this has now to a great extent silted up, and is navigable only below the town and for three months in the year. Jhenida is connected by road with Chuadanga station on the Eastern Bengal State Railway. It contains the usual public offices ; the sub-jail has accommodation for 1 1 prisoners.
