KP Sasi was a Mollywood film director. KP Sasi was famous for the film ‘Ilayum Mullum’ (Leaves and Thorns) which was released in the year 1994.

Hailing from Thrissur, Kerala, KP Sasi started his work as a cartoonist while he was a student at JNU during the late seventies. KP Sasi also did some experimental films with his 8mm camera during the early eighties.

Apart from being a cartoonist and film director, KP Sasi also donned the director’s cap for several documentary films. Some of the popular documentary films of KP Sasi include ‘A Valley refuses to die’, ‘We who make history’, ‘Living in Fear’, ‘In the name of Medicine’, ‘Voices from a Disaster’, and several others. KP Sasi was the founder member of VIBGYOR Film Festival.

KP Sasi helmed the 1994 film ‘Ilayum Mullum’ which discussed the theme of social and psychological violence against women in Kerala. KP Sasi also directed the Bollywood film ‘Ek Alag Mausam’ which was released in the year 2003. Actors Nandita Das, Anupam Kher, and Renuka Shahane played the lead characters in the movie and the Mollywood’s ace actor Gopi played a guest role in ‘Ek Alag Mausam’ aka ‘A different season’.
