Long before he became a celebrity (in his own right), Kapil Sharma was a struggling theatre artist. The comedian began his acting career in Amritsar during his college days and apparently struggled for ten years to make a mark through this medium! Kapil participated in a comedy show on a Punjabi channel in 2005 before participating in The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2007 which he went on to win! And since then, there has been no stopping the lad! Kapil's show is similar to hit British comedy show The Kumars at No. 42. Due to his knack for humour, wit and sarcasm, Kapil has made the show such a hit that in the first quarter of 2014, Comedy Nights with Kapil enjoyed TVTs above 10,000.

The actor has impressed all the big wigs from the film world including YRF scion Aditya Chopra. Kapil has bagged a 3-film contract & talent management deal with Yash Raj Films and makes his debut with YRF's Y-Film's Bank Chor. But not many know that Kapil actually wanted to be a singer and packed his bags and came to Mumbai with the hope of singing. Kapil also participated in the singing reality show Star Ya Rockstar where he was a wild card entry. Unfortunately, he did not win the show but he found a fan following in the likes of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. Lata didi had even tweeted, "Kapil ne itne saare dialogues bolne ke baad itna accha gaya. Main usey bahut bahut badhai deti hoon." Infact, Sonu Nigam is said to have been impressed with his singing talent and music director duo of Salim-Sulaiman offered him a chance to sing for them. According to a news report in Indian Express, Kapil Sharma also wants to launch his music album soon and it will allegedly be a Sufi and Punjabi music album with Universal music label showing a keen interest in producing the album.

With his fan following and contribution to the entertainment industry, it is but natural for Kapil to be honoured for his work. Kapil along with Deepika Padukone won the CNN-IBN Indian of the Year 2013 for his contribution to the entertainment industry. In an interview to The Times of India he was quoted saying that to be awarded amongst prominent personalities was an honour in itself. He added, "I have always believed in working and entertaining the common man and that I think is the success mantra of my life". That apart, Kapil has also made it to the Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list where he ranks 93rd. This powerful list includes the likes of Shahrukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Virat Kohli. According to the list, Kapil apparently makes 4.5 Crore a year as of 31st October 2013. In terms of money, he's ranked 87th and in terms of fame he's ranked 82nd. That's quite a feat at age 33!

Kapil is one of India's most eligible bachelors and quite in demand by the ladies, be it a commoner or a Bollywood actress. Top stars like Deepika Padukone and Parineeti Chopra have gone on the sets of Comedy Nights with Kapil and mentioned that they'd want a man like Kapil Sharma. That's a huge compliment. But on a serious note, Kapil Sharma is single! Yes you heard it right. There are rumours floating that Kapil is allegedly dating Comedy Nights with Kapil's creative director Preeti Simoes. Kapil and Preeti are said to have met on the sets of Comedy Circus and love apparently blossomed between the two. The two then quit the show to start Comedy Nights with Kapil and the rest as they say is history! But will he tie the knot with Preeti remains a big question mark for all!

Sunil Grover aka Gutthi's exit: Sunil Grover aka the very famous Gutthi from Comedy Nights with Kapil was an epic controversy that made rounds for a long time in the media. The entire Sharma family was seen shaking their legs together with Remo and Terence which will leave the audiences in splits.

Gutthi Palak-Palak Gutthi- The infamous introduction by Gutthi: Well, who can forget the hilarious introduction of Gutthi. Though, Sunil Grover's exit from the comic show hogged all the limelight but Kapil and his team made sure that they keep up the madness in Gutthi's absence. However, Sunil's Gutthi's was definitely one of the highlights of the show. Within a few days of introduction for audiences' the show slowly became more about Gutthi and Palak’s antic and less about Kapil. Gutthi not only became everyone's favorite but her signature introduction style was also copied by many.

Palak's O...ooo...O and Shayari: Comedy Nights With Kapil has become the perfect fodder for eyeballs to inflate. On the show, the cute and chirpy next-door neighbor of the Sharma household, Palak brings the house down on the show whenever she walks in. Every time, Kiku aka Palak makes an appearance on the show, he dons a completely different avatar. Whether it is adopting Kareena’s character from the movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham - Poo or playing a Madhuri Dixit fan, Palak steals the thunder with her glamorous look and accent. However, the highlight of her appearance on the show is when Kapil pulls Palak's legs and teases her. Kapil and Palak's argument send the audiences rolling with laughter. Palak's talk to my hand and O..O..OOO punches are some of the best jokes of the show.

Daadi's Ittu sa tha tu: Well, it's very difficult to keep our eyes away from Kapil aka Bittu's naughty at 60 Daadi. Ali Asgar, who plays the role of Daadi on the show does justice to his character. His enthusiasm and liveliness brings fun to the character. Daadi's mischievous ways of wooing the Bollywood heartthrobs on Comedy Nights with Kapil are very entertaining. Whether, it yesteryear superstar Dharmendra or gen next celebs like Ranbir Kapoor or Ranveer Singh, Daadi can never keep her hands away from them. Her shagun ki Pappi and Imarat purani hai lekin buniyaad abhi bhi mazboot hai is a hit with the masses.

Bittu Kaun Hai Aadmi: Kapil Sharma, the host of Comedy Nights with Kapil once said in an interview that he believes that the secret behind the show's success is the equal love that all the characters receive from the audiences. And this holds true when we think about the different characters on the show. One amongst them is Bitoo's Pinky bua. She's sundar, susheel and all she has ever wanted is to get married and find a phupha for Kapil. Bua, who's been Miss 22 (Twonty Two) forever now, has never missed a chance to flirt with the celebs who have visited the sets. However, whenever the men on the show decline Pinky Bua's proposal, she never forgets to say Bitoo Kaun hai yeh aadmi. The popularity of Bittu kaun hai aadmi can simply be guessed as this is one of the favorite statements of the celebs who visit the show.

Bade Hooton waali Biwi: From Comedy Circus to Comedy Nights with Kapil, the one thing that has remained constant with Kapil is his onscreen wife Sumona. The chemistry between Kapil and his bade hoonton waali biwi Sumona is enjoyed by one and all. Apart from Kapil's babaji ka thullu, one thing that has caught everyone's attention is the bade hooton waali biwi punch. Sumona and Kapil's love and hate relationship simply adds to the fun and excitement on the show. Almost all Bollywood celebs have tried their best to teach Bitto Sharma ways to woo his wife Sumona but he seems to be least interested. Audiences enjoy when Bittu gets irritated by his wife who makes a random visit to check on her husband and they seem to have fallen in love with the onscreen husband-wife antics.

2017/ Curtains for the Kapil Sharma show?

Is Kapil Sharma's era coming to an end? Apr 1, 2017 | IndiaTimes/ The Times of India

The mid-air scuffle between Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover has taken a toll on the popular show ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’. If sources are to be believed, the show is heading towards a curtain call as the renewal of Rs 106 crore with the channel for the show seems unlikely.

The insider added that since the crew and other celebrities are unwilling to turn up for the episodes, the channel and the makers might have to take a tough decision of killing the show.

In a Facebook post Sunil Grover announced an upcoming show, titled Dr Mashoor Gulati's Comedy Clinic, featuring Kiku Sharda and other actors. The gig is scheduled in Delhi on April 01 2017

Meanwhile, rumour had it that comedian Raju Srivastava was replacing Grover, who features as the characters Rinku Bhabhi and Dr Mashoor Gulati on the show.

Not just that, there are rumours that Navjot Singh Sidhu might also have to quit the show due to his government job as a minister.

Earlier [in March 2017], Kapil Sharma allegedly verbally abused and assaulted Sunil Grover with a shoe while 'The Kapil Sharma Show' crew was flying out of Australia.

Later, Kapil took to his Facebook page to share an apology to Grover, to which the Sunil said "Yes, you hurt me deeply."

Comedian Kapil Sharma, who won many hearts with his perfect comic timing, seems to be in a bad state right now after his fight with co-actor Sunil Grover.

It was reported that during a flight from Australia to Mumbai, Kapil had physically assaulted Sunil,.

Initially, the comedian took to Facebook to deny all rumours.

But later Kapil admitted that he had an argument with Sunil. He said, "But are we not normal people? I shouted at him first time in five years. Itna to chalta hai bhai (this much is okay)."

A source revealed that Kapil had consumed an entire bottle of whiskey and lost his temper when the cabin crew served food while he was still drinking, and his team members didn’t wait for him to finish.

Reportedly, Kapil yelled at his team saying, “jab maine khaana shuru nahi kiya toh tum logo ne kaise le liya khaana?”

As fight between Kapil and Sunil escalated, passengers in the economy class also got curious.

The source also revealed that Sunil Grover tried to calm him down as his entourage began returning their trays.

Apparently, Kapil hit Sunil with his shoe and also slapped him several times.

Kapil’s team was too scared of his behaviour. An eyewitness also said that Kapil, on top of his voice, said, “Tum logon ko maine banaya hai. Sabka career khatam kar dunga. Sabko nikaal dunga main.”

Reportedly, Kapil Sharma called Kiku Sharda and Ali Asgar daily wage earners.

Talking about Sunil Grover’s exit from Comedy Nights with Kapil, Kapil went on repeating to Sunil, “Gaya tha na tu toh. Aaya na wapas mere hi paas.”

Sunil Grover broke his silence on the ongoing tussle between him and Kapil Sharma, sharing a note on social media in which he asked the latter to "start respecting human beings also apart from animals."

Sunil further said that, "thanks for making me realise it was your show and you have power to throw out anybody, anytime."

Sunil added, "You are the wittiest, and the best in your field. But don't act like a 'God'. Take good care of yourself. Wish you lot more success and fame."

Minutes after Sunil's tweet, Kapil replied, "@WhoSunilGrover today packed up at 6 am after so long and I missed so many things... Love you... See you in the evening at your home."

When this entire incident came to light, Sunil Grover had missed two days of shoot of the show, amid speculation that he has quit The Kapil Sharma Show.

Apparently, co-actors Ali Asgar and Chandan Prabhakar also did not report for shoot, in solidarity with Grover.

Speculations are rife that the trio might walk out of the show.

The actor's fall-out with one of the strongest and the best comedians on his show Sunil Grover has not gone down too well with fans and people are coming out in support of the latter.

Despite the controversy and hype created by the cast, the show had to go on, and that is what Kapil seemed to be doing.

Reportedly, he brought new cast on board, which includes the likes of Raju Shrivastava, Sunil Pal, Ahsaan Qureshi and Rajeev Thakur.

Earlier, there were reports about Navjot Singh Sidhu also calling it off with the show, not because of any tiff with anyone, but because his party asked him to choose one from between the party and the show.

It was also being said that Kapil and Sidhu had already shot for an episode with the new cast.

The Kapil Sharma Show became more in number with some of the ace comedians joining hands with Kapil.

The channel, however, continued to deny reports of a fallout in an attempt to clean up the mess.

It was very difficult for anyone to bring back the charm that Dr. Mashoor Gulati brought to the show.

Although, this was not the first spat which has happened.

But this time the crack seemed to be wide and deep.
