Gold and silver coins unearthed in Bastar’s Kondagaon district
From: Rashmi Drolia, July 15, 2018: The Times of India

Workers in Bastar’s Kondagaon district unearthed a pot of gold coins while digging at a road construction site. Archaeologists have dated the treasure to the 12-13th century, said officials.

The pot was discovered by a woman worker in Keshkal block about 60km from the district headquarters on Thursday but no one dared touch it. The belief is anyone who dips their hand into buried treasure is cursed. So the workers gingerly upturned the pot to find 57 gold coins, a silver coin and a gold earring. The script inscribed on the coins was prevalent during the time of Yadav dynasty, which ruled over Vidarbha.
