Shimla Queen
The Shimla Queen contest was considered on a par with the Miss India till about 1964. It was discontinued in 1989 due to political hassles. In 1999 the event was resumed and handed over to a private organisation

Sherry Mehta is Ms Shimla

Sherry Mehta was crowned Miss Shimla, 2005, at a fashion show-cum-beauty pageant organised as part of the Shimla International Summer Festival in Shimla on June 7.
Ms Babita was the first runner-up and Ms Sugandha Pandit the second runner-up in the competition. Sherry fell down from the ramp during the second round but the incident failed to undermine her confidence and she exhibited extraordinary confidence to win the title. She also won the Miss Beautiful Skin and Miss Photogenic titles.
Ms Sugandha won the Miss Personality title, while Ms Jennis Kukreja earned the Miss Beautiful Hair title.
The audience remained glued to the seats even as the contest stretched well past the midnight.
Earlier, the folk artists from Uzbekistan performed some fascinating dances.

Priya crowned Miss Shimla

Priya [Chauhan] was crowned Miss Shimla at a glittering function held during the Shimla summer festival here last night.
As many as 15 participants sashayed on the ramp as they vied for Miss Shimla crown.
While Priya won the crown, Tashi was adjudged the first runner-up and Priti Thakur the second runner-up.
Priya also won the title for miss personality, while Tashi won the best catwalk prize.
Second runner-up Priti Thakur was given the most photogenic face title. Priya Chauhan went on to become a professional model and who did numerous shows like Pyar ki ek kahani,Kya hua tera waada,Kitni mohabbat hai-2. TV Commercials, and many fashion shows.

Purva Rana crowned as Miss Himachal

Purva Rana of Dharamshala was today crowned as Pantaloons Femina Miss Himachal by Shriya Kishore, Pantaloons Femina Miss India Earth 2009.
Vinni Ghazata was First Runners-Up and Sukriti Bhardwaj was crowned as Second Runners-Up at the Gaiety Theatre, Shimla.
