On the verge of equalling AB de Villiers' record of half-centuries in 12 consecutive Tests, Bangladesh batsman Mominul Haque says he is merely eyeing a good performance against India...
Having registered scores of 50-plus in his previous 11 Tests, Mominul Haque has an excellent chance of emulating Abraham de Villiers' feat of scoring half-centuries for South Africa in 12 consecutive Tests. AB achieved the feat between Nov 2012 and Feb 2014. Mominul's streak began with his maiden hundred (181 and 22 not out) against the visiting New Zealanders in Chittagong in October 2013.In his most recent Test against Pakistan in Mirpur last month, he scored 13 & 68.
Mominul is one of only six batsmen to have recorded an average of 60 or more in Tests (minimum 1000 runs) -his aggregate being 1380 (ave.60.00) in 14 Tests, including four hundreds and nine fifties. He joins Don Bradman (99.94), Sid Barnes (63.05), Graeme Pollock (60.97), George Headley (60.83) and Herbert Sutcliffe (60.73) in this very elite club.
