Muktagacha

Town in the head-quarters subdivision of Mymen- singh District, Eastern Bengal and Assam, situated in 24° 46' N. and 90° 15' E., on the road from Nasirabad to Subarnakhali. Population (1901), 5,888. Though the town was constituted a municipality in 1875, the population is poor and rural. The income during the decade ending 1901-2 averaged Rs. 6,500, and the expenditure Rs. 6,000. In X 903-4 the income was Rs. 8,000, of which Rs. 4,500 was obtained from a property tax ; and the expenditure was Rs. 7,000.
